In my WebGUI Search presentation last week at the WUC, I showed an advanced search template which provides the following features:

 * Google-style design
 * Post back to container to preserve page layout
 * Pop-up help screen
 * Friendly no-match message
 * Links include an anchor to the matched asset
 * Uses GET to prevent pop-up warnings if user returns to Search results via the back button

Thanks for the feedback from those who attended.

William

And it's in the Bazaar, where you can download it for free :)

P.S. Support my Request for Enhancement of Thingy!

Hi William,

For these features to work without static forms you would need some additional template vars wouldn't you? Have you posted them as an RFE?

Kind regards,

Actually, all features should work without any changes. If they do not, report it as a bug. I made use of a macro to figure out the parent container and hand-write the form setup to use GET instead of POST. If you use it, let me know how it goes.
