From what i've been told, no.  The way i've positioned this with my clients is that it is a vital step in case you "screw" up your website, you can go back if you don't like the changes you've made.  My developers i've trained them that it must become a habit.  Before you switch projects or close a browser window make sure you've committed all of your changes.  I thought of it as a pain at first, however I see the value in it now.  You will as well the moment that you made changes on your site that you didn't want, its much easier to go back to a "happy place".
