On our site we have the following problem: some of our CS are moderated. For these we have generated approval workflows that ask a certain group for permission whenever a new post is submitted. We do have several groups for that in order to share the work among content managers. However, we would like to have all content managers be able to submit to moderated CS without requiring approval. Can this be done somehow? Allowing content managers to edit respective CS (or containted posts) is not sufficient. I have tried that already. Any ideas?

How about making a hybrid Workflow? Something inbetween Commit with Approval, and Commit Without Approval.
When the workflow is activated, it checks to see if the user belongs to a special group that is defined for it. If the user is a member of that group, it commits right away. Otherwise, it submits the content for approval to the normal moderation group.

If the Content Managers group is the Group To Approve, they don't need approval for their own content.
If you need something more flexible, I would suggest taking the current "Request Approval by Committer Group" and adding some sort of "reverse" flag to it so that anybody NOT in the group would need approval.

Thanks for your replies, guys. Extending the "Request Approval by Committer Group" activity is probably the simplest solution. Would that feature by interesting for the core? Or do I get away with a quick and dirty hack?
