Hi all,
I must be dense or something... Under 7.4.39 I had the Commerce system working; I knew that it was going to be overhauled for 7.5, but allright.
Now however, I can't seem to find the way to have a visitor add a product to his cart. All my products report 'out of stock', too.
So 1) under 7.4.39 I added op=addToCart&itemType=<type>&itemId=<id>
what's the new way?
2) where can I set the stock positions of my products?
Thanks in advance,
-Erik

In the new Shop, much of the old commerce system has been made asset based. So now, you create a Product asset (the new Shelf asset is made to store Products). Once a Product asset is added to the site, you'll be given a content menu in the asset by which to set your variants (where stock numbers are indicated) and other product details. A Product must be in stock in order to add it to the cart. Make sure you set the stock number to greater than 0, then you'll see an Add to Cart button within the asset.
There is a new Shop Guide that covers all the new Shop related functions.

Hi Kristi,
I'm once again coming back to this topic. We already have a system for order administration, and in the 7.4 system I had made a plus-in for the commerce system that queries *that* database. It seems a lot of work (and a lot of clicks for the visitor) to re-create a product in webGUI for all the products we already have.
Isn't there some simpler way?
-Erik

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. There aren't any additional clicks for visitors. And you shouldn't have to recreate your products. Your products should still be there. Before, they were displayed using the product macro; if you look now you'll see they're being displayed w/ ^AssetProxy. It would be best, in my opinion, if you cut your products and placed them on Shelf assets on your site and dealt with the products as assets. Inventory is handled through the product asset, so in order for the add to cart button to show up you need to edit each product and assign it a positive value of stock. Again, the Shop Guide will show how the new commerce system and its new assets work. If you need more detailed assistance you can try one of Plain Black's support options.

Sorry, I'm not making myself clear. Under the 7.4 system, I have made a macro that generates links like ?op=addToCart;itemType=iProduct;itemId=<productnumber>, and productinfo from our *external* product database is pulled up and the product placed in the cart.
If the commerce system becomes asset based, how do I use that external product database? Is that covered in the Shop Guide? In that case I will be glad to pay the 60 Euros.
If you like, we could take this discussion out of here, and I'll be glad to show you in more detail.
