Hello all,
take a look at our brand new workspace site: http://templates.unitedknowledge.nl. It features:
- a step by step guide for redesigning a template.
- a checklist for the editing itself.
- a list of the first set of templates we'll be working on.
- wiki for documenting classes and IDs.
- a test section.
- most of the stuff from the other site.
You can once again log in using your username from webgui.org as username and password. If you really want to work on a specific template, you can fill in your name in the "template list" thingy.
Next week I'll start dividing the work for the first set of templates. I'll also propose a new deadline, since we missed the last one.
So I'll leave you with a quote:
"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." ~ Douglas Adams

Rogier,
Since I'm working on the global webgui.css file, would you like it added to the Style Template this site?

Yes, please do. Since we decided to add a css file per asset (if needed) it might be a good idea if everybody lets you know whenever a template is done. Then you can decide if some of that asset's styles should be added to the webgui.css.

Ok, this is how I divided the work (the list is here):
- Diona: webgui.css, poll, shortcut, search.
- Rory: article, page layout.
- Meg: collaboration system.
- Tabitha: collaboration system.
- Patrick: YUI navs.
- Rogier: other navs, syndicated content.
- Arjan: working on forms RFE.
For the new deadline I propose the 16th of january 2009. By then these templates should be done and ready for review by the community.
Let me know what you think about this. Maybe you feel like I assigned too many templates to you ...or too few!
Thanks,

Alright Mego and I will work on the collaboration system templates. I like the workspace site, and thanks for posting a nice guide to the process of redesigning a template.
Perhaps this question has been answered already, but do we need to make duplicates of the templates we're working on to avoid our changes getting wiped out, or can we just edit the existing templates?

OK, you're welcome.

Glad you asked, let me explain this in more detail.
We will edit the templates in the import node and make no duplicates. The reason is this: if we are working on a duplicate and the original template is updated, we'll never know. Or we would have to check all templates we have worked on for updates.
But if a template in the import node is updated, the previous version will be a revision. A TemplateDiff macro has been added to the edit screen, so we can easily see what lines of code have been updated (see attached image). Then we can put the new code into the previous revision or whatever we want.
This will just make it a bit easier for us to compare a template we're working on with an updated default template.

Hello everyone,
I've been catching up on the project - I am excited to be involved.
I work with Diona & William at Knowmad, and I do a lot of front-end development and WebGUI design integration, so I am looking forward to improving the templates and making the integration process easier for front-end devs in WebGUI.
I see that the first batch of templates has been assigned out. I would be happy to take over some of those if anyone feels overburdened, or start on some new ones. I've noticed recently that the Gallery is in need of some love (the pagination, for instance, is wrapped in a <del> element and positioning was accomplished using the display: table-row and such - not good).
I'd also be interested in working on the Wiki templates, as we use that a lot in the office. I understand that there is a priority list, so let me know what would be most helpful.
Thanks!

Hi Tessa,
thanks for introducing yourself. And welcome.
If you want to get started, you would have to ask Diona if she intended for you to take over the templates I assigned to her or to work on different ones.
If you would like to work on the wiki or the gallery: either one of those is fine by me. Both have high priority (= my opinion, we don't have a proper list).
The wiki, though, has a bug going on with the wiki page tabs, so you might want to wait until someone resolves that.
The gallery is a lot of work, but managable because it's split up in many templates - so I would suggest you work on that.
@everyone: I'm almost done with 2 article and 2 syndicated content templates, why don't you try to catch up with me?

Never mind that, it turned out to be a simple fix. I expected it to be YUI related, but it was just a missing stylesheet.
