Rogier,

Do you plan to address asset templates as part of this project? The navigation among Thingy things needs some attention as described in bug report #9061.

I think it will be some time before we start working on the thingy templates. When we do we'll certainly work on a complete and consistent nav. This is very much part of the template project, since the thingy nav is in the templates and not part of a var or loop.
