Hi, I'm JT and these are my thoughts on community, content management, Plain Black, and WebGUI.
Well my week of speaking and presenting at YAPC is over, and other than a technical blunder on my part, things went very well. The PB staff and I spoke with a couple hundred Perl devs, and found out that many of them are either already using WebGUI or are planning to very shortly. More on that in another announcement.
I gave a talk on Wednesday morning called 'Why WebGUI?', which was fairly well received. It was mostly about why building web sites and web applications on WebGUI is a better idea than using a framework like Catalyst or Jifty. The talk went well and a half dozen people came up to chat after the talk was over.
One of the people that came up was Larry Wall, the creator of Perl. He just wanted to say that a friend of his was building a site for their church and was trying to decide between something written in PHP, and WebGUI. And that he gave them a little nudge over the top to go with us because WebGUI is written in Perl.
I realize this isn't huge news, but it made my day to know that even Larry Wall is recommending WebGUI.
