Hi, I'm JT and these are my thoughts on community, content management, Plain Black, and WebGUI.
Howdy from Lisboa (Lisbon), Portugal. After 19 hours traveling through various airports and airplanes, I'm in beautiful Lisboa. Why am I telling you? Well because I'm here for WebGUI.
First and foremost I'm speaking at YAPC::EU 2009 here in Lisboa. I'm teaching an introductory programming in WebGUi workshop on Monday. Then on Wednesday, since the theme of YAPC::EU is corporate Perl, I'm giving a talk on how to turn a Perl project into a profitable Perl based business. I have a little experience in that subject area. =)
Second, I'm here to say hello to some of my long time European friends, like several members of the Dutch team. And to hopefully meet some existing WebGUI fans, and make some new ones. There are many WebGUI-based consulting and hosting businesses in Europe, and hopefully with this trip we can make a few more users for those businesses, perhaps a few more contributers, and maybe even a few more WebGUI-based businesses. After all, the further WebGUI's reach spreads around the world, the better it is for everyone in the WebGUI community.
Third, as with any trade show or conference I go to, I'll be giving out plenty of Gooey dolls. We must spread Gooey love to Europe!
If you're at YAPC::EU this week, be sure to stop me to say hello. Or better yet, say it in Portuguese: "Olá".
Unless you hate sweet stuff, make sure to get a Pastel de Nata:

Part of the Dutch eagle has landed as well!
