In WebGUI 7.7 the shop got a huge list of improvements. There are so many that it's hard just to enumerate, so I'll let you try out a demo if you want to see them rather than taking screen shots of everything. Here's what's changed:
- The Ogone payment driver was added to support local credit card processing in Europe.
- The Tax system has been made pluggable, so you can build your own tax rules.
- A VAT tax plugin was built for the new tax system.
- A PayPal payment driver was added.
- A USPS shipping driver was added.
- You can now add items to your cart directly from the Shelf asset.
- The Event Management System (EMS) now has a schedule screen so you can see a list of everything that's going on at the conference very quickly and easily.
- The performance of the EMS was increased by several hundred percent.
- The event import on the EMS was beefed up to allow simultaneous import of thousands of Events, and it was made faster so now it can import about 1 event every 2 seconds.
- There is now a vendor payout system so you can do consignment based sales in the shop in an automated fashion. Payments are made back to the vendors via PayPal.
- The Ad Sku asset was added so you can sell advertisements on your site with no human intervention.
- The Thingy Record Sku asset was added so you can sell access to add records to a Thingy. In this way Thingy can be used as a membership database that automatically collects fees, or as a paid classifieds system.
I'm sure there's a ton more that I'm forgetting, but as you can see there were some massive improvments to the shop in this release. If you're running a shop, or thinking about running one, WebGUI just got a whole lot better for your needs.
