We're doing a lot of events to get the word out about WebGUI this year, and I want to take a moment to share that with you. The WebGUI Community Calendar has the complete list of these events in it.

To start the year, I'll be giving a talk at the Frozen Perl developer conference this coming weekend in Minneapolis. I'll be talking about the benefits of the WRE and probably giving out some SWAG.

In April Plain Black will sponsor a booth at the Ad-Tech conference in San Francisco. Here we hope to talk to the 10,000+ advertising and marketing people in attendance and convince them why WebGUI is the best solution for all their web needs. And we'll probably be giving out a few thousand gooey dolls while we're at it.

At the beginning of June we'll be sponsoring a booth at the Department of Defense sponsored Enterprise Architecture conference in St. Louis. We already do a lot of work with the Federal government including the US Department of State and several unnamed three letter agencies. With this conference we're hoping to branch out into the Department of Defense and the related industries.

In the middle of June we'll head down to sunny Orlando for Educomm, a conference dedicated to higher education. Plain Black will again sponsor a booth at this conference. In addition, we're working with the conference organizers to present a case study with one of the many colleges and universities we work with.

In August I'll be traveling to Lisbon, Portugal to help spread the good word about WebGUI to my fellow European Perl developers. I'll be speaking at YAPC::EU 2009, and hopefully doing a short programming workshop for WebGUI as well.

And last, but certainly not least, we'll close out the year with the annual WebGUI Users Conference right here in Madison. Which reminds me, if you want to speak at the WUC, the call for participation is out there and waiting for you. We've already gotten lots of great submissions, but we could always use a few more. The deadline is February 15th.

As you can see we've lined up a lot of great events to help us get out the word about WebGUI in 2009, but you can help us too! If you know of a local conference that you think WebGUI could make a big splash at, send an email to info@plainblack.com. We'll send you brochures, SWAG, and anything else you need to put on a successful show. Many conferences have free booth space for open source products such as WebGUI. Or if you're interested in either presenting or manning a booth, but don't have know where you could do such things, email us and we'll help you find a conference, trade show, or convention that fits your needs and skills.
