In relation to this RFE I'd like to discuss the userfriendlyness of Thingy.

I think that having 20+ types and added to this on the bottom of the list the other Things in the Thingy makes the user interface to link things together needlesly complex.

In the RFE I requested a separated list for linking things together, but JT closed this with the comment "I don't want two separate fields".

Could there be another way to solve the problem of the enourmous list of types with 2 or 3 links to other Things at the bottom? Or is this just something the user has to know?

Koen, is what you are talking about the list of Field Types, where you
see both the form types (combo box, email, ...) and the tables you
created in Thingy?

Are you asking to reduce the number of supported form types? (I
wouldn't. Someday somebody is going to ask to make the field type
combo-box work.)

Perhaps what you ask is as simple as: indicate that the items at the
bottom of the list are other tables in Thingy and perhaps put them on
top?

Table: Organisations
Table: People
Type: email
Type: combo box

Kind regards,
Arjan.

Koen, is what you are talking about the list of Field Types, where you see both the form types (combo box, email, ...) and the tables you created in Thingy?

Yes, that is what I am talking about.

Are you asking to reduce the number of supported form types? (I wouldn't. Someday somebody is going to ask to make the field type combo-box work.)

No, I am not asking to reduce the number of supported form types.

Perhaps what you ask is as simple as: indicate that the items at the bottom of the list are other tables in Thingy and perhaps put them on top?

Table: Organisations
Table: People
Type: email
Type: combo box

I am asking if the problem I described is really a problem.

You are right that I'm looking for a way to make clearer that the 'linking' types are (as the spec notes) special types, but I don't know what the solution to this problem would be.

The solution I suggested in the RFE (put these links in another list) was rejected.

Perhaps you are on the right track and putting them at the top of the list is a good suggestion. I don't know if it is possible to give them a different color, that might also be an idea.
