I'm planning on moving the Survey2 non-response collateral to JSON to vastly speed up large numbers of surveys in a system.  My question is about how this will effect user generated reports.  Without access to the survey information from SQL, the user won't be able to generate their own reports.  Would this be rectified by having several good pre-set reports for the users to run?  Is there another way to expose the survey for reporting?  Or is the idea of JSON collateral in the survey just not a good idea.

Yes the survey should have some basic reporting. But then also give a series of csv exports so that the results can be analized further in a spreadsheet or db program.

I would say that powerful and flexible on-line reporting is essential to creating a useful survey.  Our clients have pointed to the lack of reporting features in our current modules as the main reason to use SurveyMonkey instead.  In fact, for our purposes (in 7.4) we use data form for our surveys and I've created my own DataFormReport wobject to allow me full searching and reporting on the data.  I'm happy to share if you are interested.

Michell,

perlMonkey2's question has to do with Survey questions, sections and the ilke.  All the results are still stored "raw" (not as JSON) in the db.
