Karma

On this site you will earn karma for performing good deeds. Good deeds are considered posting in the forums, voting in polls, and other interactions with the community. In addition, you'll get karma for purchasing goods and services through this site.  The amounts you get for all of these things will vary, and are subject to change from time to time.

What good is karma if all it represents is the amount of good deeds you've done? We think that you should be able to spend your karma like currency. It doesn't matter to us how you came by your karma. Whether you purchased your karma, or earned it by helping people out in the forums, your karma is worth the same to us.

Right now there are two ways to spend your karma. There may be more in the future.

The first way to spend your karma is to give it away. You can rate other people's posts in the forums. In doing so you'll transfer a small amount of karma from your account to their account. It's sort of like your way of saying thanks for a good post.

The second way to spend your karma is to apply it to RFE's (Requests For Enhancement). In this way you get to determine what features we work on next. Each RFE is weighted by us for difficulty. Then you can spend your karma on it. The more karma you spend, the higher the karma rank it will get. Of course, it will take more karma to move more difficult requests up the karma ranks. Whatever is at the top of the ranks when we start working on the next release, will be one of the features included in that release.
